The American Cleaning Institute’s (ACI) Communications Team received PR Daily’s Grand Prize for Nonprofit Communications Team of the Year for their innovative and effective efforts to ensure consumers use proper cleaning and hygiene practices amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The winning effort, “Small Team Raises Loud Voice to Educate Consumers on Correct COVID-19 Cleaning Practices,” is highlighted on PR Daily’s website.

PR Daily’s 2021 Nonprofit Communications Awards recognize the engaging and powerful communications efforts from the past year. Program winners represent the people, teams and organizations whose powerful storytelling and campaigns, partnerships and projects helped build awareness of or raise funds for important causes, initiatives, organizations and programs. This year’s Nonprofit Team of the Year Grand Prize award sought to highlight the nonprofit communications team that created influential and successful communications.

ACI’s Communications Team includes Brian Sansoni (SVP, Communications, Outreach & Membership), Jessica Ek (Director, Digital Communications), Kristin DiNicolantonio (Director, Stakeholder Communications) and Joanne Oh (Senior Communications & Outreach Coordinator).

“Our communications team is made up of highly trained and dedicated communications professionals who exemplify work ethic and talent, combined with accurate knowledge to deliver cleaning and hygiene information to keep consumers safe. I couldn’t be prouder of this team and the recognition of our work when it counted most during the first year of the pandemic,” said Melissa Hockstad, ACI President & CEO. “Cleaning products and product chemistries are essential to everyday life and our role in providing the resources and guidance for protecting health and safety is critical for consumers across the country.”

As the COVID-19 pandemic emerged in the U.S., ACI sprang into action to help educate and provide resources on proper cleaning and hygiene practices to protect against COVID-19. Amidst a news landscape of conflicting and inaccurate cleaning claims creating consumer anxiety, ACI leveraged strategic communications efforts to cut through the noise, activating trusted voices and proven protocols to help decrease the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

“The American Cleaning Institute set themselves apart from an outstanding field of entrants in PR Daily’s Nonprofit Communications Awards. Their work was exceptional and displayed their innovation strategies for achieving success. Congratulations, American Cleaning Institute. We look forward to your continued success,” said Brandan Gannon, Marketing Manager for Awards Programs at Ragan Communications and PR Daily. Programs at Ragan Communications and PR Daily.

In addition to the Grand Prize win, ACI was recognized as an Honorable Mention in PR Daily’s COVID-19 Communications category for their work in delivering essential COVID-19 cleaning guidance.
