2016 ACI Convention & Industry Meeting
The 2016 ACI Convention & 90th Anniversary Celebration at Grande Lakes in Orlando, Florida is your opportunity for high-level business interaction and networking with some of the most influential companies in the world.
The American Cleaning Institute kicked off 2016 with its 90th Anniversary Celebration at the Annual Convention. The Convention attracted over 930 attendees from 177 organizations and 30 different countries to network and make connections with other industry and business leaders. The schedule allowed plenty of time for business-to-business meetings and attendees also participated in speaker sessions, charity and networking events.
Speaker Sessions
Navy SEAL Robert O'Neill provided personal insights on leadership and overcoming the impossible in his professional and personal life to achieve success.
Founder, President and CEO of FUBU apparel and Investor on TV’s Shark Tank, Daymond John captivated audience attendees with his story of creating the FUBU brand and his philosophy of the "power of broke" in his life and applying it to sound business practices in creating new business opportunities.
Daisy Cake’s President & CEO Kim Nelson spoke about her passion and pursuit of her dream to start and grow her brand during the Women’s Networking Forum.
ACI speaker sessions also included Global Updates from Europe, Canada, Brazil, Australia, India, Japan and China and a Legal Committee Panel Presentation on advertising and marketing laws.
New to the ACI Annual Business Meeting was the Innovation & New Technologies Showcase which gave ACI member companies an opportunity to shine a spotlight on their new product, ingredient and packaging innovations and technologies. Industry Award
This year’s recipient of the Elva Walker Spillane Distinguished Service Award was Suzanne Thompson, formerly of The Clorox Company and currently Vice President R&D for Diversey Care, Sealed Air. Giving Back
During the Convention, ACI hosted several events that provided an opportunity for attendees support our charities of choice, Cleaning for a Reason and Clean the World.
The 2nd ACI Annual Fun Run, sponsored by P&G Chemicals involved more than 80 participants. The following were recognized during the Convention closing reception:

The official sponsor of the 2016 Charity Duck Race was Shell Chemical LP. Despite storm clouds gathering that threatened rain, many came out to cheer on their ducks and corporate ducks as they "swam" down the Lazy River. The extra-large corporate duck debuted this year, complete with motorized boats to assist them across the finish line! View the 2016 Duck Race video.
During the 7th Annual Charity Golf Tournament golfers enjoyed networking and Florida sunshine. Golf awards were presented during the Convention’s closing event to the following:

Other golf awards were for the following categories were: the Shortest Drive Winner was Arlene Adams Westway Terminal Company LLC); the Closest to the Pin Winner was Paul Muir (CDI Global); and Doug Morgan (Keystone Aniline Corp.) took home the award for the Longest Drive.

The Clean the World One Project event at Grande Lakes, sponsored by Firmenich Incorporated, provided attendees the opportunity to build hygiene kits for at-risk families. In recognition of ACI’s 90th Anniversary, the Convention Committee set a goal to build 9,090 hygiene kits. The competition was fierce and the winner of the 2016 kit build is Nichlas Wallen of Solvay Novecare who was the top-producing individual. He will travel on a 2016 Clean the World trip to provide hygiene education and distribute soap for having built 1,325 hygiene kits. Lonza Inc.’s employees took the honor of building 2,750 hygiene kits and earned a kit build event for their company!
